Who decides which patients will be in the study?
Paramedics in the ambulance are trained to recognize and treat patients who may be at risk of a heart attack. All patients experiencing heart attack symptoms that call 9-1-1 in a participating community will be assessed by the paramedic for potential inclusion in the IMMEDIATE Trial. The paramedic makes a decision based on certain criteria that are defined by the study.
